What People Are Saying
Discover how this course is empowering individuals to embrace their Arab identity and find harmony between the several worlds their 'Beingness' inhabits.
The history that is taught to people shapes their worldview and extends their lives past the day of their birth. As for me, I largely ignored Arab history in favour of Western propaganda and the promise of a future technological utopia; now, as I grow older, I realise the value of what I had ignored and even outright rejected. I didn't know where to look though, to help guide me through this mess of a situation. And then, I found 'unapologetically ARAB' and The Kandari Chronicles YouTube channel, and immediately, many paths opened up for me.
Portland, OR, USA
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful course. I had the chance to see Arabs as people like any other, they have a culture, art, music, poetry, history and more. So grateful for this series. P.S one of my takeaways, how to handle misjudgement and respond with calm.
The Kandari Chronicles Community Member
I was dealing with so many layers of identity, place, religion, family values, education, language and so many more. This course helped me reconcile myself with some of these layers, and those not reconciled, I was still able to put a name them, why they challenged me, and put them on my list to address in the future.

The Kandari Chronicles
The Kandari Chronicles YouTube channel is committed to sharing knowledge, stories and commentary about the Arab and Muslim world through video essays about topics such as history, folklore, societal and political commentary. The commentary revolves around looking at simple realities or concepts, but with a slight change of perspective; hoping that this minute change of view, will shed new light and provide fresh understandings.
Arab Architecture is Broken
Modern Arab architecture faces an identity crisis. Across Arab cities, buildings increasingly look identical, detached from environment, culture, and history.
Arabic Influenced the World
Languages thousands of miles apart, Persian, Urdu, Swahili, Malay, Spanish, and Turkish, share an unexpected historical connection: Arabic.
Pulling Strings with Wasta
Wasta is often dismissed as nepotism or corruption. But that explanation is too simple, and too lazy. It's what happens when trust in institutions disappears.
